In My House - journal based  (Pre/Post Tests)   Journal based curriculum based upon solid research.  The Journal Program consists of 10 workbooks:  In My House; ATOD; My Feelings; My Self-Image; Respecting Others; Relationships; My Body; My School; Having Fun and My Future  Female and male students; multiple ethnic groups.  Targeting middle school aged students from 11-14             The first five workbooks constitute the core of the curriculum.  For prevention programs limited to 20 hours or less of the program time, the 1st 5 workbooks can be used as a "Year One" prevention effort on their own, to be followed in "Year Two" by the remaining five workbooks.  Programs with approximately 40 hours or more of time are encouraged to use the curriculum in its entirety in Year One. Drugosaurs - (Pre/Post Tests)   Drugosaurs is a workbook that provides information on substance and on the prevention strategies.  The youth will meet 10 imaginary creatures, the Drugosaurs. With each one that they meet, they will be learning the following:  how the drugosaur became extinct; information about each drug; street names for the drug; forms of the drug; short-term effects of the drug; long-term effects of the drug.  The drugs covered are:  tobacco; amphetamines; marijuana, hallucinogens, steroids, inhalants, prescription meds, alcohol, cocaine and crack and ecstasy.   Female and male students ages 7-11, multiple ethnic groups             These topics can be divided  and taught over several sessions.  There is a curriculum guide for the providers of the curriculum.   Each workbook is .95 NO
Active Parenting Now/Teens (Pre/Post Tests)   AP Now/Teens is a science based program.  It is a video based program that demonstrates non violent discipline techniques, effective communication skills, how to teach children responsibility, cope with difficult topics such as drugs, violence and sex and conflict resolution. Although the program is video based-the group engages in group exercised and discussion as well.  The program is for parents, caregivers, guardians and extended family members.  It is a 6-week program, where they meet one time per week for 2 hour sessions, multiple ethnic groups.  AP Now is for parents of children ages 5-12. AP Teens for parents of children ages 13-18.             The program is 6 weeks long, with each session being 2 hours.  There is weekly homework. Parenting Wisely   It is a self administered, computer based program that teaches parents and their 9 to 18 old children important skills for combating risk factors for substance use and abuse.  Uses a risk-focused approach to reduce family conflict and child behavior problems. Too Smart Too Start   Is a public education initiative that provides research based strategies and materials to professionals and volunteers at the community level to help them conduct an underage alcohol use prevention program.  It is flexible in the way in which it can be implemented in the local community.
